This is a real jewel of the Highlands. Going through the doors you are presented with a wonderful and eclectic art, knick-knacks and poetry. The owner is friendly and helpful. Browse the knick-knacks and check out the poetry room. They also have regular markets and other events. Very highly recommended

The Australian Poetry Hall of Fame

Australian Poetry Hall of Fame Case for support. What am I trying to do? In an unused theatre in Guyra I have created the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame to preserve Australian poetry, songlines and languages. My mission is to create the Greatest Poetry Show on Earth and celebrate, develop and expose Australian poetry and performance poetry to a world audience in perpetuity.  The vision is to develop the Arcadia theatre site into a multipurpose, tourism, arts and cultural precinct with a focus on Australian Poetry. The massive vision is for an integrated arts and culture precinct in the development of the whole Arcadia theatre site which includes, events, festivals, artist workshops, poets in residence, recording and video production studio, Australian poetry archive, an audio archive, Indigenous songlines and language hall and a centre for the learning and development of poetry and performance. And why the hell should someone want to help me do it?
  1.  Because I have years of experience as an English teacher, entrepreneur, artist and nationally recognized published poet who is passionate about poetry, languages and linguistics, arts and culture.
  2. Because I have a massive vision for an integrated arts and culture precinct in the development of the whole Arcadia theatre site which includes, events, festivals, artist workshops, poets in residence, recording and video production studio, Australian poetry archive, an audio archive, Indigenous songlines and language hall and a centre for the learning and development of poetry and performance.
  3. Because I have a long track record of setting goals and achieving my vision, through, planning, dogged determination, dedication, conscientiousness, wit, intelligence and most of all passion.
Really try and drill down into your reasons for making this Australian Poetry Hall of Fame, building this company. I was passing through Guyra from the Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival where I had been delivering a new poem titled Happy Harry Koala which is a story that aims to assist in koala recovery after the bushfires. I stopped for a walk and came across the magnificent Arcadian Theatre sitting empty and knew immediately that I had been called to create the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame.  Ask yourself: Who am I? James Arthur Warren aka Thundercloud Repairian, Environmental Scientist, English teacher, Teacherpreneur, Writer, Poet, Publisher, Lover of Life, Languages and Linguistics. What do I want? I want to develop a financially sustainable cultural asset to preserve, celebrate and develop Australian poetry, lyricus, languages, songlines and performance in the Arcadian theatre in GuyraWhat do I want it for? I want it for the preservation of the linguistic diversity of the indigenous languages and songlines of Australia, Poets past present and developing, Poets of Australia, Bush Poets, Performance Poets, the Preservation of Poetry, the celebration of Poetry for all the people of the world as a reference library of poetry and lyricus for all time. And for the nurturance and recovery of native forest speciesWhat is my work about? Preservation of the cultural asset of Australian lyricus, poetry and languages. Why is this important or compelling? Because languages and poetry are being lost in time and this way it can be preserved for future generations. We can learn new ideas from other languages and people through poetry.Who am I making my work for? The world so that the learnings and lessons of the original people and the poets of Australia can be enjoyed in perpetuity.   What difference will it make in the world? A massive magnificent archive of poetry and lyricus will be available for all the world to refer to.
AND
10% of all profits from the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame are donated to Thundercloud Repairian Forest Fund to assist in replanting native forest linking corridors and riparian zones along waterways to nurture and assist in Koala and other species recovery.
